My research focuses on how new technologies, specifically virtual reality and mobile applications, can be applied to better understand and treat eating disorders. In particular, virtual reality offers unique opportunities to study and intervene in complex psychological experiences. It allows us to elicit and observe phenomena while remaining in a controlled setting, providing a valuable proxy for internal processes that might be otherwise difficult to capture. I’m especially interested in the potential of these tools, as they hold great promise for both research and everyday clinical practice. At the same time, I believe it’s essential to deepen our understanding of their effects and underlying mechanisms to ensure their safe and meaningful use.
I work closely with patients, who are at the heart of my research. Their willingness to share their experiences and contribute to scientific knowledge is something I deeply admire, it requires courage, openness, and generosity, and it constantly reminds me of the purpose behind my work. I deeply value the contribution of people with lived experience, who bring unique insights that make my work more meaningful and connected to their needs. My research interests go hand in hand with my growing clinical focus on eating disorders, which I’m developing through psychotherapy training. This dual path allows me to connect research and clinical practice, creating an ongoing dialogue between the two that enriches both my scientific and clinical perspectives.
One of the highlights of my studies was my time at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, where I had the opportunity to work with inspiring colleagues who fueled my curiosity and passion for research. I go visit them whenever I can to enjoy their warm company and the sunny Spanish vibe. In my free time, I love staying active, especially playing volleyball, or relaxing with some crochet.
