My research investigates how cultural factors and socialization processes shape mental health and social inclusion among ethnic minority and immigrant communities, with a particular emphasis on Asian heritage cultures. Focusing on adolescents and young adults, I examine the development of ethnic–racial–cultural identity among Chinese immigrant youth and how this identity relates to well-being, cultural intelligence, and social adaptation. In parallel, I study Chinese immigrant parent’ racial–ethnic socialization goals and practices, tracing their connections to children’s heritage identity, mental health, and school adjustment. Building on these empirical strands, I also explore pathways for culturally responsive counseling and mental-health services for Chinese immigrants and others with Chinese cultural backgrounds in Italy and Europe, integrating research evidence with clinical and community practice.
