Marilina Pellegrini

I am a PhD candidate in Psychological Sciences at the University of Padua, where my research focuses on the psychological dimensions of sustainable mobility. My work explores how people perceive, experience, and adopt more sustainable modes of transportation, with a specific focus on the role of psychological and social factors in the acceptance of integrated mobility solutions, such as Mobility as a Service (MaaS). I am particularly interested in understanding which psychological factors influence individuals’ decisions to engage in sustainable mobility practices, and how these factors can contribute to socially sustainable urban transportation systems.

Beyond my doctoral project, I am deeply interested in understanding how mobility reflects and reproduces social inequalities. My current work integrates concepts from environmental psychology, social psychology, and the study of technology acceptance in the field of transportation to explore themes such as social inclusion, equity, safety, and quality of life in urban mobility. This interdisciplinary perspective allows me to address both the cognitive and social aspects of travel behavior, linking individual decision-making processes to broader issues of social justice and sustainability.

During my doctoral studies, I completed a research stay at the Laboratoire de Psychologie et d’Ergonomie Appliquées (LaPEA), Université Paris Cité and Université Gustave Eiffel. This interdisciplinary environment strengthened my expertise in the study of social sustainability and travel behavior, and exposed me to applied perspectives on transportation psychology and human factors. Collaborating with researchers from different disciplines enhanced my ability to bridge psychological theory with practical applications in urban mobility and transportation policy.
