See below a list of the key academic milestones and recurring activities that will structure your journey: from the Welcome Day and mandatory courses to the School Meetings, research period abroad, and final thesis submission. Becoming familiar with these phases will help you plan ahead, meet important deadlines.
Beginning of November
• For 1st year students.
• Receive essential information, welcome slides, and specific rules for your own cycle.
Throughout the year – mostly Autumn to late Spring
• Attendance is mandatory within ECTS requirements (totalling about 100 hours during 1st year, about 25 and 20 during 2nd and 3rd year respectively, but check regulations for your own cycle).
• Include thematic, methodological, programming, and soft skills courses.
Autumn to Early Spring
• Attendance is mandatory for all enrolled PhD students.
• Focused on diverse areas of psychological research and the promotion of interdisciplinary approaches.
Anytime during the three years, but most recommended for the 2nd or early 3rd year
• Minimum of 3 consecutive months in a Lab abroad, but 6 months is most recommended.
• Subject to agreement between home and host supervisors.
• Mandatory for all enrolled PhD students.
Spring to Early Summer
• 3rd year students present their work to the faculty and peers, as formal approval of the 3rd (and last) progress assessment and preparation for the final defense.
• Attendance is mandatory for all enrolled PhD students.
Late Summer to Early Autumn
• Annual report must be submitted within 40 days of the end of the academic year.
• Interview with the Monitoring Committee; you receive advice and feedback.
• Mandatory for all 1st and 2nd year PhD students (not for 3rd year students, who give their School Lunch presentations).

Final output: encloses the results of the research carried out during the PhD
Submission by October 31st (end) of the 3rd year
Reviews are received from expert scholars; major or minor revisions of the thesis might be requested
Defense (final examination): the PhD thesis is publicly discussed before the Committee
