Alberto Petrin

I obtained my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at the University of Padova, with a focus on Psychobiology and Cognitive Neuroscience. My main research interest lies in understanding the mechanisms and limitations of core cognitive processes such as attention and memory — functions that are fundamental for maintaining a stable representation of the world and closely linked to conscious experience.

To pursue this goal, I have developed a strong foundation in statistics and advanced analytical approaches such as computational modeling, which allows me to simulate brain and psychological processes. I also integrate neuroimaging data into my work, primarily using electroencephalography (EEG), to achieve a more comprehensive understanding of the neural dynamics underlying cognition. Through the analysis of both event-related potentials (ERPs) and time–frequency components, I aim to elucidate the intricate interplay between brain activity and behavioral outcomes.

My research primarily involves healthy young adults, and I conduct most of my work in our EEG laboratory in close collaboration with my lab colleagues. I am a strong supporter of Open Science and have growing interests in data science and literature.

On a personal note, I consider myself an easygoing person who values collaboration and inclusivity. I strive to create a welcoming, non-hierarchical work environment where everyone feels comfortable sharing their ideas and perspectives.
