I am a psychologist specialized in the field of the psychology of aging. I obtained my Bachelor’s degree from the University of Pisa and my Master’s degree from the University of Padova, where I also completed a second-level specialization in Geropsychology.
My research interests focus on the study of subjective experiences and perceptions of aging and quality of life in both typical and pathological aging, and how these aspects can be translated into applied practice to design and develop interventions aimed at promoting autonomy and well-being in later life. More specifically, my research explores individual differences in subjective views of aging among older adults, including those living with dementia, and how such perceptions influence health and quality of life in old age.
Recently, I have also become interested in studying the determinants of quality of life among older adults living in long-term care facilities, including self-perceptions of aging, cognitive and psychological functioning, perceived loneliness, and perceived quality of care. In addition, I am currently working on a project examining age stereotypes and ageist attitudes among healthcare professionals working in care facilities, with the aim of understanding how ageism affects both individual characteristics – such as attitudes and perceptions of one’s own aging – and work-related outcomes, such as care approach and occupational well-being.
I collaborate with the Memory and Learning Lab at the University of Padova, which provides valuable opportunities to exchange ideas and receive feedback from experienced professors and researchers. Recently, I also joined the team of the Laboratory of Psychology of Aging and Longevity at the SCUP (Centro Ateneo dei Servizi Clinici Universitari Psicologici), where I am gaining meaningful clinical experience in the field of aging.
Beyond research and academia, I am passionate about a wide range of activities, including music (currently a violin player), reading (a devoted Harry Potter fan and lover of fantasy novels), running (formerly a middle-distance runner) and playing soccer (currently a five-a-side player). I also love nature and hiking in the mountains, as well as taking long walks or runs along the seaside in my hometown.
